Pink Saturday Bathroom Tour

We remodeled our tiny, 4' X 8' master bath a couple of years ago, turning it into a pink powder (puff) room. DH is such a sweety to put up with all my pinkness! At the time of the redo there was a thrift store that had opened up not too far from us, and their prices were so cheap! That little store greatly aided my redo. Too bad their prices didn't stay that low. Hope you enjoy the tour!

I got this bathroom light, brand-new, still in the box, from THE thrift store for $2.99.

The mirror and towel hooks came from our local home improvement store.

The medicine cabinet was a thrift store find for $7 ! It was originally gold, and DS #1 sanded and painted it white.

I put this Mary Engelbreit calendar page on the inside of the medicine cabinet door as a reminder to make my days count.

I got the shower valance from the thrift store for 49 cents.

We sanded, painted, and added new pink knobs to our old birch vanity.

I got the little two-drawer cabinet/towel rack from another local home improvement store for $10.

I found my ceramic powder dish at the thrift store and added the rose decal myself.

I searched high and low for a rug that would be the perfect size for this long, narrow spot. Not finding what I wanted, I decided to make my own with instructions from here.

The reverse side of the rug: Notice this fabric is the same as the valance. I found this matching shower curtain on another visit to the thrift store. It had a few tears in it, thus I got it for only 49 cents too! It yielded quite a bit of useful fabric. I'll show other things I've made from it in future posts.

DS put up the beadboard and helped DH and me finish up the redo with the pink paint. I was so happy with the results that I've almost forgotten about the first paint job. I called it Pepto Bismol pink. I woke DH up at 2:00 one morning to tell him I didn't think I could live with it. Being the sweetie he is, he kindly told me not to worry about it, we could repaint.

Well, that's my Pink Saturday contribution for this week. Don't forget to go by Beverly's blog, How Sweet the Sound, for the list of all Pink Saturday participants. I visited Jill's blog, Balliwick Designs, this week and was awed by this beautiful site. And, she's having a Valentine give-away! Be sure to drop by there and tell her I sent you. Don't you just love Valentine season?! It's my favorite time of the year!

Hope you have a happy Pink Saturday!

P.S. Don't forget to enter my Apron give-away! Check out my last post.

  1. Beautiful!

Do you love living in AL? My Mr. AGPMan and I are planning a trip to your state in early summer. I want to see the birthplace of Helen Keller (Tuscumia)...

    Love your bath!

  2. Rebecca,
I DO love Alabama! We live in the country, just outside the small college town where DH and I grew up. I love it that we can visit mountains and also the beaches and never have to leave the state. Our favorite vacations are camping in Alabama State Parks. You will love visiting Helen Keller's birthplace! Make sure you read up on Helen's life and watch one of the movies (I like the older one where Patty Duke plays Helen) before you go, if you haven't already done so. It just makes it all mean so much more when you visit her home and even get to see THE well. You won't be disappointed with the trip! We visited there when our oldest two children were studying AL History in our little homeschool, and again when our youngest son had the class. Keep in touch, I'd like to hear more about your visit!

  22. Happy Pink Saturday Sherry...
Sweetie I love this post. Your bathroom makeover is absolutely devine. I just love it. The little light was such a wonderful find for the price. My gosh what a deal.

I love the shower curtain topper, and then when you found the same fabric for a steal again and was able to cover the back of the rug. That is so sweet. I am going to be looking at those instructions later, because I have to see how you did it.

I love the white paint with the pink knobs on your cabinet. The little knobs are definitely an element of surprise. I love it.

The inside of your medicine cabinet is a wonderful idea. I am going to take a second gander at both of mine and see what I can do with them. They too, need a little sprucing up. That is a great idea. Encouragement for the day. Thought for the Day. I love this idea sweetie. Thank you for sharing.

Have a beautiful day sweetie. I would so love for to share my pink post with you. Please pop over and read. I think you will enjoy it.

    Country hugs sweetie...Sherry
