We Have Chicken Thieves!

Well, it's actually thieving chickens we have. I guess I should have, "Gotten up with the chickens," and raced them to the garden! They beat me to the garden and merrily pecked their way through over half of our ripe tomato crop! So much for my brilliant idea for natural pest control. They just may be going back to their little chicken house for the rest of garden season. I was already mad at them for giving up on their daily egg production as soon as the weather warmed up a little bit, and now this...

  3. I have to laugh because while gathering mulberries I lay old sheets on the ground so they are easier to pick up... I used to have to race my beagle outside to get the berries before she did!

  5. I had that kind of trouble when I had big chickens so I got little miniature chickens! They are called Cochin Bantams. They are the cutest little things and they are to little to reach very many tomatoes! Of course we will have to crack 3 eggs instead of 1 but who cares! They are feather footed balls of fluff. The deer get my rosebuds.....rrrrr it makes me so mad. Nice finding your blog.

  6. I would love to have chickens again, but the things would have to be caged. I would probably let them out every now and then for a photo shoot. My whole family would string me up if I ever have free roaming chickens again.
