Some people would call it Stuck in a Rut...

...I prefer to think of it as Happy Routines.

Sweet Hubby and I just returned home from a four night camping trip in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee.  We had a wonderful time but while there, I missed my routines!
I missed my daily chores!
I missed the flowers in my garden!

In short, I missed home!

I have enjoyed returning to my routines.  It's not only a mind thing, my body even seems to crave the peacefulness of them.
I love checking them off my list.

Daily (early in the morning):
  • feed and water the animals
  • take walk
  • water plants/work in garden

Monday
  • laundry
  • vacuum
  • make menu for week
Tuesday
  • dust
  • iron
  • buy groceries
Wednesday
  • laundry
  • sweep and mop
Thursday
  • wash sheets
  • clean baths
Friday
  • laundry
  • prepare my Children's Church lesson

How about you?  Do you thrive on routines too?  I would love to hear how you order your days.

Home, the spot of earth supremely blest,
A dearer, sweeter spot than all the rest.

  1. Yep, I would say I do like my routines, however I do "float" a bit thru out the day. But I understand the peace that comes with finishing off a list. Knowing you've actually DONE something. I thin I would miss your flowers as well. Thanks for sharing your uplifting home with us.

  2. In my opinion the best part of any trip
(though I enjoy it) is coming home!
There is just no place like it.
    Your flowers are beautiful.
    Blessings,

  3. Exactly why the kids and I are staying "home" this summer. We normally travel to the States and within the first two weeks the kids want to come back home to their own beds and pillows and routine. Time is fleeting. I have 2 months off from school but it goes oh so fast. Have a great rest of the week. Tammy

  4. Glad you had a good time! We camped for 4 nights in the Smokies 2 weeks ago! We rode bikes around Cades Cove loop and did lost of hiking- so nice but it is restful in another way to fall in our routines, too. Angela

  5. Since my hubby and I are both retired, I don't stay on a schedule so much. We do a lot of drinking coffee on the deck!!

  7. I cannot keep on a routine or schedule during the summer...kids in and out of the house....*sighs* I thrive on routine, but I won't think about it until school starts back!!!

  8. First I LOVE your cabin quilt Sherry. It's so bright and pink and fun. A nice picnic with that beauty would make everything look and taste better, lol.
ROUTINE??? what's that? Not here, sorry. When the kids were small, yes I had to have a routine, but soon the routine disappeared and I like it that way. Some strive on routine, like you, but for me it's fly by the seat of my pants...
Hope your having a great summer Sherry.

  11. I found your blog on the 'Romantic Blogs' site, and just love it!I am reading through your old posts slowly, I want them to last a while, like favourite chocolates:)
I can relate to you enjoying your routines- I also find comfort in mine. That said, I have to go and take my laundry off; It is a cold, cloudy day in South Africa, and I look forward to settling down in a cosy spot with a cat in my lap and some knitting.
Thank you for this lovely space, blessed be!
