I should have known better...

... than to have tried to carry on a conversation at the same time I was putting ingredients in the bread machine.  The result?  I didn't put in as much water as the focaccia bread recipe called for.  And that's why you find me perched on a stool - for leverage - rolling out a lump of stiff, hard, unyielding bread dough.

These flabby middle-aged arm muscles aren't up to the job of spreading that resisting dough out to the edges of the pizza stone.

After many minutes of my struggling with the impossible, my photographer (eldest son) takes pity on me and trades me his camera for my rolling pin and with those young muscles, gets the job done quickly!

The bread turned out wonderfully, by the way.
Wish I had gotten a picture of it before we gobbled it up.

We're planning His/Her Thanksgivings again this year.
Thursday, Thanksgiving with my parents and family and Friday, Thanksgiving with sweet Hubby's family.

I wish you and yours a wonderful Thanksgiving season!

Love,  Sherry

  3. This is so funny, Sherry, because I had a similar problem yesterday! After our daughter, son-in-law and grandson arrived, my daughter started working on her pies in the kitchen. She didn't know where I keep certain things (because we haven't been here long) and kept asking me where the cinnamon was, the vanilla, et etc. I had JUST started putting the ingredients for the rolls in the bread machine, and every time she asked me a question, I was interrupted. Plus, I was also trying to start a pot of coffee because our poor son-in-law is exhausted from working 10-14 hour days (6 days a week) for the last month and he needed some! So, later, when the rolls somewhow refused to rise, I was at first confused...and then I realized...I'd never added the yeast! Oh well. :-) Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Would have loved to have tried your foccacia bread!

  5. I used to have a bread machine Sherry. The kids were all under 10. As you I have 3. Well, the bread machine I bought was the one that made small loaves. I was making 3 loaves a day!! The kids, Randy and I would eat it warm with butter and home made jam. I gave it away finally. I was spending way more money on flour, yeast and what ever else I thru in there then going to my local artisan bread store. So that's my bread story.
It must still be nice in Alabama right now. Still no snow here, but it's cold. I know it will come soon enough.
    Sending you hugs my friend.
