Weekend anticipation

Ms. Beverly over at How Sweet the Sound has suggested we share our weekend plans and link our post up to Pink Saturday this week.  So here's my overly-exciting plans.  :)

The weatherman has predicted sunny days with temps in the low 70's for our part of Alabama.  Does it get any better than that?  So I plan to spend some time at my favorite place.
My front porch!

It's The Best place to sit down with a good book and a cup of something hot.
I enjoy many treasured moments here.  On the beautiful fall afternoons we've been having, I love to put a casserole in the oven to bake, open the dining room window so that I can hear the timer (or smell smoke:), and go out on the front porch with a cup of something hot and a book while supper cooks.  It's my favorite "room" of our home.

Other hopeful plans for the weekend include strolling hand in hand with my sweet hubby on our city's walking/bike trail.  The overhanging trees are beautiful right now.  We shared a three mile walk last weekend and I've relived the memory daily.  It's kept a smile on my face all week.

Another hopeful plan is to visit a new little shop right here in the country near our home.  It's called The Corn Crib , because, well, it was a corn crib in its before life.  The owners had it moved next door to their home this summer and stocked it with fresh garden vegetables, local honey, beautiful plants, etc.  I've not visited it yet but look longingly at it as we zip by on our way to town.  They're having a Christmas Open House that I hope to attend this Sunday afternoon.  So just maybe, if I can remember to take my camera, I'll have pictures I can share with you later.

One more place that I always include in my weekend plans is church. It's the place I go to for a refreshing of my spirit and filling my heart with joy.

I especially look forward to Children's Church, where I always learn something and come away with a smile and a new sweet story to share with my family over lunch.  (My favorite story from last week was about the three year old cutie in my class that was looking for the "plaid" colored pencil in the box.  He wanted to color his coat craft just like the plaid one in our story book.)
Kids keep us young, don't they?

What about you, got any special plans for the weekend?  Hope you'll share them!

  1. Hoping to get down the shed and do some painting, been so busy this week. However I will have the electric stove full blast, a bit of opera, and watch the sun go down around 4p.m. Our fall is a bit cooler than yours!

  3. I have always enjoyed porches. My grandparents had them, and it was so nice sitting in an old rocker and rock your problems away.

  4. Not many plans this weekend since we have been gone for the last three weeks. I am enjoying time to visit my blogging friends and happy that I made a big pot of veggie soup so no cooking either. YAY!!!

Your porch is really beautiful. I would spend much of my time there two.

    Enjoy your weekend.
    Hugs, Jeanne
