Finding joy in every day

We took down the Christmas tree last night.

The ornaments are packed away for another year and that little corner of our living room was a little dark this morning.

But that's okay, I'll brighten up other parts of our home to make up for it.  Maybe a scented candle on a kitchen cabinet will help brighten up this cloudy morning.  Maybe my three cups of coffee and the Bizet CD I have playing will get my blood pumping.

The washer is happily washing my neglected laundry from the past 1 1/2 weeks.
I saved my vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, mopping, and bathroom cleaning for when visiting family returned home and my guys went back to work ~ today.

Do I feel guilty for not doing chores other than cooking and cleaning up the kitchen for the past week and a half?  Absolutely not!  I enjoyed every second I had with my precious family.

And today I'll enjoy cleaning our home and setting it back in order.
I'm also decluttering as I clean.
I love starting the new year with a clean house and a clean slate.
Just think of all the sparkling possibilities the new year ~ and each new day ~ brings!
I've learned to celebrate every day!

And just think, it's only six weeks until my very favorite day of the year!
Bet ya can't guess what that day is.

  2. Love your upbeat attitude! I feel very inspired now to clean up and de-clutter our place, once everyone goes back to work and university. I still have most of the family at home til 7th January, so like you, I'm savouring them while they're here! :) xx

  3. I have to wait till twelfth night to denude the house of Christmas, tho I have to say I have sneaked some into their box. I too do a January clean and sweep. Sadly no family with us this year, floods everywhere not conducive to travel with small children. Happy New Year Sherry. Not long to V day.
