We ventured into the nearby "town" of Mentone on the second day of our vacation. Twenty-nine years ago, Neil and I spent our honeymoon here. Hope you can catch a glimpse of the fun personality of this little mountain town from some of my pics.

Mentone, a place the Great God built,
Up near the sunlit sky,
There life is new and friends are true
And days too quickly fly;
Where wearied souls regain their power
And sorrows leave in the night.
Where peace is born with each new morn,
A haven of joy and delight.

I have often wanted to go there. Now I know I will have to cause it looks like a sweet little town.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Sherry Sweetie...
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful time you and DH had going camping, and spending a little time shopping. I would have so loved to have visited these shops right along with you. I bet they had beautiful things for sale. I can't wait to see if you were able to take pictures inside. Scott's Happy Art intrigues me.
Looks like you had a wonderful time. The church was so delightful. I tell you nothing like traveling to the hills to see REAL beauty. I love it. Thank you SO much for sharing and I so look forward to Part 2.
Happy Thanksgiving Sweetie. Many hugs, Sherry

I do not think that I have been to Ft. Payne before, but I have been to some mountain areas in Alabama. The pictures of Mentone are great advertisements for the area. St. Joseph's looks interesting enough to warrant a trip. The last I spent time in the Alabama mountains was many years ago and it was near Clouldland Canyon on the Georgia-Alabama line.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
I love all the different buildings, so nice. Have a Happy Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteBlue Bell ice cream must be a Southern thing but it's the next best thing to homemade.
