It's been a while since I posted.
I've been enjoying our beautiful Alabama fall.
The leaves are wonderful right now.
The skies are a perfectly clear blue.
And the temperatures couldn't be better.
(I wish I was a poet so my lines would rhyme. :)
I've been using my oven more since I don't have to worry about heating up the house.
I made my favorite Focaccia Bread.

The bread was wonderful paired with this Pineapple Chicken Stir-Fry!
My recipes came from the Taste of Home website and my family loves them!

Well, it's off to school for me again today.
I've really enjoyed my first couple of subbing jobs.
In fact, I've enjoyed them so much that I've now asked to be a classroom volunteer.
I especially enjoy the happiness and enthusiasm of five and six year olds, so I've asked to be a classroom volunteer for kindergarten and first grade classes.
My first assignment is helping a kindergartner with his letter recognition and I can't wait to get there!
I've missed teaching children.
My youngest graduated from our homeschool last year so I was forced into retirement after 16 years.
But I still have the love of teaching in my heart and can't seem to be completely happy without it.
So, I decided to take some advice from a wise old bear:
You can't stay in your corner of the Forest waiting for others to come to you.
You have to go to them sometimes.
~Winnie the Pooh~
And that's the reason I'm off to school today.
Won't you join me in my happy dance?
Hello Sherry!
ReplyDeleteSuch a nice post :) The chicken stir fry looks fantastic! Happy to hear you are enjoying the little ones you are able to love and help!
I too have ended up back in school despite my saying never again!
ReplyDeleteHasn't it been *gorgeous* here in Alabama lately! Your recipes sound fantastic. Thanks for sharing them!
ReplyDeleteI am working in the yard today because it is so nice.
xoxoxoxo,

I'm with Piglet.... doing a happy dance that you are excited about school. Children need teachers who are dedicated and love what they do.
ReplyDeleteSherry,
ReplyDeleteI'm doing a happy dance that I just found your blog! We definitely have a lot in common. I'm glad you are enjoying your new teaching/volunteering assignment. Helping out in my kids classrooms were some of my most happiest and fulfilling times. Now I work at a University helping big "kids" and guess what--they need help and encouragement too! Oh--and my favorite Pooh quote: "I wasn't going to eat it, I was just going to taste it."
So happy that your post sounds so happy. Like you are talking with each one of us, with a ear to ear smile on your face.
ReplyDeleteOne of the great things about the cooler temps is definitely being able to crank up the oven! I'm looking forward to making some Focaccia Bread too. I haven't made it in a year!
ReplyDeleteNice to hear that you're teaching again. Wonderful:) Enjoy!

Delightful post! Have fun at school helping the little ones. It's such a rewarding experience. I know how much you must miss it after homeschooling for so long! I am homework-helper-Grandmama for our grandson while his parents get the new restaurant open and running! He's in the 4th grade so it's a little harder, plus he doesn't like to sit still :-) Any suggestions about calming a wiggly student?
