What do you do with your long fall and winter evenings?
Since I can't pack up my belongings and head to a sunnier, warmer spot, I'm asking myself the same question I ask every year at this time, What am I going to do on the long, dark, fall and winter evenings.
I don't want to veg out with my cuddly blanket and a book or sit gazing at another dumb Netflix movie. (I think we've already seen all the good ones.)Since I can't pack up my belongings and head to a sunnier, warmer spot, I'm asking myself the same question I ask every year at this time, What am I going to do on the long, dark, fall and winter evenings.
Every year I try to think of something to do to keep me busy (and awake) after washing and drying that last supper dish of the day and putting it away.
I'm not (technically) alone in the house but my sweet husband is very happy to curl up in his blanket and watch yet another movie of any kind. He likes them all! But he's earned that veg time with his long day at work. My two twenty-something-year-old sons are quite good at entertaining themselves with their electronics in their own part of the house. I, too, want to find something I enjoy doing. I've piddled all day after all, and know that if I sit down in my comfy chair I'll immediately begin to doze.
Our predicted cool temps for this weekend is forcing me to look for ways to entertain myself for yet another fall/winter season.
So I decided to get ideas from you, my wise friends. Won't you let me take a little peek in your window and see what you do on a long, dark evening from 6:00-10:00 pm? I'm imagining others have a very exciting life with fun and activities going on every minute of the evening.
I'm anxiously awaiting your ideas!
Thank you for your input!
Hope you have a glorious Fall weekend!
I not very helpful 'cause I read but I do fight falling asleep in my chair! Or sometimes I just give into it! Heehee! Have a lovely day, Angela
ReplyDeleteI do hand-sewing, needlepoint, small crafts to give away, scrapbooking (for myself as my son isn't all that interested in photos...I keep thinking that someday he might). My projects for the evenings are on a small scale so I can easily do them on a tray or part of the table. I enjoy reading too, especially "light" mysteries. I like to share time/space with my husband, so I don't work/play at the computer, which is in another room, unless he's heavily involved in reading or watching sports. I'm like you in that, if I don't have something to do, I tend to fall asleep!
ReplyDeleteI like to do puzzles in the winter.
ReplyDeleteI usually do things on the computer or do crafts and crocheting. I'm a night owl, so the nights are when I get my laundry done and much of my "housework" like cleaning and even vacuuming!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the winter and dread the heat of the summer, so I'm always feeling very energized as the temperatures go down!!!

Hi Sherry! You can probably guess what I do in the cold winter evenings. I Crochet! I love nothing more than making afghans and can make several during the winter months. Enjoy your weekend! Twyla
ReplyDeleteI do cross stitching and quilting along with knitting as well. I always have a variety of things to do to keep it interesting. Also a good mystery to read is always a good thing to do although sometimes I have to stay up just to read the whole thing if it's really good ;).
ReplyDeleteI live on the other side of the globe, so it is summer here:) I love to listen to audio books while doing embroidery, usually cross stitch; it seems the best of both worlds to me. I download lovely free books from librivox.org.
ReplyDeleteWe go to bed early! We get up early, too. I love the quiet mornings with lots of down time before I dash off to school.
ReplyDeleteReading is fun!
Love, love this time of the year....bake, do crafts, watch crafting videos/craft hauls/make up tips on youtube while I craft....dream of my spring garden....
ReplyDeleteI joined in a website called Swap-Bot four years ago and have been having a ball with it. It is all types of crafting and it even got me started sewing which I never did before. If you like to try different crafts, this is the place. I am retired and addicted to www.swap-bot.com.
ReplyDeleteI practice my knitting and have the basket right by my chair. I'm just trying to get my stitches even, I'm not making a pattern or anything.
