So here's my story; I went to Hobby Lobby today with a 40%-off coupon in hand. I was just going to buy a new calendar for the new year. This little conversation went on before I went in the store; The Sherry Angel (SA) told the Sherry Devil (SD), "You know the checking account is pretty anemic right now, and will be even more so when the credit card bill comes in with all the Christmas purchases on it. So only get the calendar." And the Sherry Devil said, "Fine with me!" But then we got inside the store! I grabbed a cart ~ Mistake #1. SD said, "Let's just look at the flowers, they're 50% off!" Okay, we'll look. Oh, we all three found so many bouquets that would look perfect on the table and we all agreed they would brighten up the winter days so much. But I would need a new vase to put them in. Let's look at some. Then SA comes to her senses, "Wait! We only came after a calendar!"
I won't tell the whole story but I will tell you this back-and-forthness went on in the fabric department and again in the Christmas clearance aisle. SD was so convincing that SA let me put a couple of things in the cart and ride them around awhile before convincing me I didn't really need them. SD said, "Oooh, but we could use some of the Christmas clearance stuff to make VALENTINE decorations with!" Now, I'm with SD on this one, afterall Valentine's Day is my favorite day of the year. But, SA had another idea, "Go home Sherry, pull out all the pink, red, and white craft items you already have, put them on the dining room table, then see what you can make from what you already have."
"Okay," ...me, whining...So I bought my new calendar then came home and worked all afternoon pulling out anything I thought I could use for Valentine crafties. And you know what? SA and SD disappeared! Poof! Just like that and left me here all by myself with this colorful mess.
I told you this story for a reason. I'm a sad little copycat with no idea what I can do with all this stuff. Please, dear blog friends, GIVE ME IDEAS! GIVE ME LINKS! I WISH YOU WERE HERE!
Seriously, I would love for you to leave me a comment with your favorite Valentine links or craft ideas.

Hobby Lobby just opened in California yesterday - and it's 30 minutes away from my house! I love what you found - are the little felt hearts from there? I need to go - uh oh - I think that was Devil Sweet Bee! Now as far as crafts, I just made some L-O-V-E letters that I'll be posting about soon. Just paper mache letters that I painted and covered with scrapbook paper. I'll keep my eye out for more! Happy Rednesday!
ReplyDeleteHi Sherry!
ReplyDeleteI just got such a chuckle at your post! I so know about your angle/devil self! lol Love my Hobby Lobby too!
Hey I'd do a Heart Pocket or sweet lil wreath with some of your goodies...or how about some type of Valentine Collage! You got a great start...
Happy New Year!
Lorena
You have some wonderful stuff to work with...bet you create some beautiful Valentine goodies...can't wait to see....blessings
ReplyDeleteSherry, all your stuff looks so cute! I spent $40.00 on craft stuff yesterday! :)
ReplyDeleteLast year, I made cards using copies of vintage valentines. I showed them on my blog if you want to look in my archives. The year before that, I made a banner and 2 wreaths for swaps- also on my blog. This year? I don't know if I'll make anything. Maybe i'll just eat chocolate. ☺ I'm still so much in the "get settled" mode- We'll see! ♥
Lovin' the little felted items, and the hanging one with the beads is beautiful! I just know you'll come up with something fun:@)
ReplyDeleteOh what fun. I don't do much for V-day, I do have placemats and napkins though. How about a banner with the hearts and some letters to spell out something V-dayish.
ReplyDeleteHappy PS
I have not links to give you or any new ideas, but what you have started looks fantastic to me. Good luck and keep us posted.
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday Sherry...
ReplyDeleteOh sweetie you are a strong one. It is SO hard to concentrate on shopping with the Angel and Devil conversing between us isn't it? You never know who is going to win somedays, it is really hard.
I love the idea of the wreath made from all your precious gatherings and I would imagine a banner would be beautiful as well. I love the little felt hearts, they are so precious. Check out the dollar store for wreaths if you don't have one. You can cover with fabric strips and then start adding your embellishments. You have everything you need right there for decorating.
Have a gorgeous weekend sweetie. Happy Pink Saturday. Many country hugs and much love, Sherry
Oh I think you have so much talent. What a wonderful creative spirit you have. Happy Pink Saturday, Char
ReplyDeleteI plan on using Nancy's tag idea here:

I'd love to give you some tips but I'm limited to a glue gun and looking for something to stick a fake flower on. Cute but no creativity. You sound pretty creative with the SA & SD story...lol..
ReplyDeletethat table of yours looks delicious!!
ReplyDeleteSherry, did you paint those hearts with the sweet little faces? They're so adorable! I went to our HL, trying to find Xmas stuff that I could use for Valentine crafting, and I must have gotten there too late, because there was nothing. But the devil always seems to win out when I go there, because I'll go in there for one piece of scrapbook paper and come out spending $20! You could try Google-ing "Valentine Crafts", and click Images, so you can actually see the crafts. Hopefully you'll find something good, and then I can copycat YOU!
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday!
Carol
