Happy Valentines Day!

I'm spending the day with my sweet husband.  I've made him sugar cookies (his favorite) and he got me flowers  (my favorite no-calorie gift).  Chicken Fajitas (cooked by me) are on the menu.

What about you?
Got special plans?

Hope your day is special in every way.  I'm so glad you stopped by.
Thank you for not forgetting me.

Simple joys

Yesterday was a most wonderful day!
It was filled with homey chores and visits to a thrift store, Hobby Lobby, and the grocery store in the morning.
Afternoon and evening brought family time and a fun time swapping recipes and cooking with my youngest son's girlfriend.  (I so love girl time and girl talk!  I have to make a special effort to include that into my life since I live in a guy-majority home.)

Sweet Karrie came over and we made my chicken and dressing recipe together.
Then she taught me how to make her Daddy's fan-tab-U-lus fudge.  I think it's the best fudge I've ever tasted!!!

 Yum!!!

~Now on to Today~
This new day has started out very foggy.
The fog has deposited its heavy drops on my clothesline.

The smell of our woodsmoke contributes a warm, homey smell to the outdoors though.

I think I'll go inside where the washer is swishing our sheets...
...sweet love songs are drifting through from the kitchen cd player,                        and a cheery fire is burning brightly in the fireplace.
All making home a very comforting, happy place to be.

Looking around inside lifts that heavy fog that tried to settle in around me outside.

There's a mixture of Christmas past and Valentine future in my little breakfast room.
I seem to have chosen an everlasting Poinsettia waaaaay back in early December.
Who would have thought a mere $3.99 could bring MONTHS! of colorful happiness to my life?

Thank you Aldi for your offerings of beautiful flowers at such a little price.

And my just-as-frugal Dollar Tree Valentine decor is just as cheery and will last even longer!

Such sweet, simple pleasures make me such
A Happy Valentine!

P.S.
The sun is now out and has gotten rid of the heavy fog so I'm going out to flip the fog droplets from my clotheslines and hang out my freshly washed sheets!

I wish you a joyful day, my friend!

My favorite day of the year!

This Happy Valentine woke up to a dark, rainy day outside.

But it's all sunshine and happiness inside her home!
Her sweet hubby gifted her with chocolate, a pot of tulips,

and a sweet Valentine.

She has happy butterflies on her cabinet top.

They're waiting to go to the kindergarten Valentine's party this afternoon.
They can't wait to see 17 little kindergarten smiles.
Wishes to you for a Happy Valentine's Day from
Hope your day is filled with love and warmth.

A Happy Valentine

I'm up bright and early this morning to begin my favorite day of the year!

I have BIG plans!

Our special supper is in the Crock pot ~ pot roast and vegetables.  I made extra rolls a few days ago and have them stashed away in the freezer all ready to pull out and finish cooking to go with our meal this afternoon.

Now I'm going to get my special Valentine treats all baked up for my guys and my household chores done this morning while the temps are still quite chilly.  Because....the weatherman has promised us a sunny day with afternoon temperatures in the 60's!  As soon as my work is done I plan to go outside and play in the sunshine!

Want a peek at my thrifty decorations?  I made everything from supplies I already had.  And they make me quite happy.

My wishes to You from A Happy Valentine!

May Your Day be Blessed!

I cleaned my sitting room today...

... but since it's such a dark, rainy day I can't get good pictures of my sparkling clean room. So instead, I'll just show you the happy Valentine banner I made a few days ago. I'm so glad something is happy and cheerful on this drizzly day (something besides me, that is :).

Now I'm going to slip into my pink rain gear and go for a quick walk before starting supper.  Hope it's a bright cheery day where you are today!

Honey, do you mind standing up to eat tonight?

I've got the table loaded with red, white, and pink crafty stuff.

So here's my story; I went to Hobby Lobby today with a 40%-off coupon in hand.  I was just going to buy a new calendar for the new year. This little conversation went on before I went in the store; The Sherry Angel (SA) told the Sherry Devil (SD), "You know the checking account is pretty anemic right now, and will be even more so when the credit card bill comes in with all the Christmas purchases on it. So only get the calendar."  And the Sherry Devil said, "Fine with me!"  But then we got inside the store!   I grabbed a cart ~ Mistake #1.   SD said, "Let's just look at the flowers, they're 50% off!"  Okay, we'll look.  Oh, we all three found so many bouquets that would look perfect on the table and we all agreed they would brighten up the winter days so much. But I would need a new vase to put them in. Let's look at some.  Then SA comes to her senses, "Wait! We only came after a calendar!"

I won't tell the whole story but I will tell you this back-and-forthness went on in the fabric department and again in the Christmas clearance aisle.  SD was so convincing that SA let me put a couple of things in the cart and ride them around awhile before convincing me I didn't really need them. SD said, "Oooh, but we could use some of the Christmas clearance stuff to make VALENTINE decorations with!"  Now, I'm with SD on this one, afterall Valentine's Day is my favorite day of the year.  But, SA had another idea,  "Go home Sherry, pull out all the pink, red, and white craft items you already have, put them on the dining room table, then see what you can make from what you already have."

"Okay," ...me, whining...So I bought my new calendar then came home and worked all afternoon pulling out anything I thought I could use for Valentine crafties.  And you know what?  SA and SD disappeared!  Poof!  Just like that and left me here all by myself with this colorful mess.

I told you this story for a reason.  I'm a sad little copycat with no idea what I can do with all this stuff.  Please, dear blog friends, GIVE ME IDEAS! GIVE ME LINKS! I WISH YOU WERE HERE!

Seriously, I would love for you to leave me a comment with your favorite Valentine links or craft ideas.

Pink Saturday ~ Apron Winner!

Happy Pink Saturday and Happy Valentine's Day Eve~Eve! My favorite day is almost here! Valentine's Day has always been my very favorite day of the year. I'm not sure why. My DD, Heather, speculates that it's because it is all about pink and red. Could be...could be....I've always been a pink and red kind of girl. Most of my red went to Indiana with Heather, leaving me with only the pink. She decorated her kitchen with all of the familiar reds from home. That way when she walked into her apartment after a day at a new school in a far-from-Alabama state, it was really like coming home.

Well, on with the Valentine eye candy...

"Made-by-Sherry" Valentine garland. I haven't hung it up this year. I've just carried it all over the house, leaving it here and there....that way I can enjoy it where ever I happen to be at the time.

My favorite bookmark from my local library. I love my library and my bookmobile!

"Made-by-Sherry" paper globe using instructions from Heather Bailey's blog.

I made the paper globe's little dangling heart by sticking two identical stickers together.

My favorite necklace. The little swirls around the center heart look like S's to me. "S" for Sherry! I think it was just made for me!

And last but not least...A Happy Valentine...
Uh oh, who's that peeking over A Happy Valentine's head? Oh, it's Lulu.
She wanted to draw the winner for the apron giveaway. But I decided to give that
honor to DS #2. BTW, DS #2 didn't appreciate being called by initials and a
number, so I asked him what he wanted me to call him on my blog and he said, "How
about my name?" So, without further ado...

...here is Taylor, drawing the winning name for the Apron Giveaway! And the winner is.......

Shellymckinstry !!!!

Congratulations Shelly! I will be getting in touch with you personally to find out where to send your apron.

I want to thank everyone that entered my first giveaway contest. Your comments are all so sweet and greatly treasured. I wish I could have given each one of you an apron.

If you didn't get enough Valentine's Day eye candy yet, then pop on over to Beverly's blog for a long list of Pink Saturday participants. It's Valentine's Day all over Blog Land today. Thanks for visiting with me today, and oh yeah, I'll be back with some more Valentine posts over the weekend, so check back!
