My two good friends ~ Mrs. Crock Pot and Mr. Bread Machine ~ had us a wonderful meal cooked up!
After sharing the meal with my sweet hubby, two sons, and one son's girlfriend, we cleaned up the kitchen, shared some old family photos with son's girlfriend, and then sweet hubby and I took a leisurely walk on our country road. The weather was beautiful ~ warm and sunny!
Then I worked on my decorations a little more. I can't seem to get them just right, but I'm still puttering with it.
I've been craving some homemade granola so I made up a batch and enjoyed a bowl full of it while it was still warm. Yum!
(Recipe below)
Lastly, I finally got around to something I DO NOT enjoy, making a menu for the week.
I was so happy to get it finished up so that I could make out my grocery list for Monday.
All in all, I think it was a perfect Sunday!
Homemade Granola
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1/3 cup honey
4 cups oats
1 cup chopped nuts
1/2 cup dry milk
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
Mix sugar, oil and honey in a saucepan. Heat until sugar is dissolved. Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl. Pour sugar mixture over dry ingredients and mix well. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes. Let cool and store in an airtight container.
Optional ingredients: raisins (add after baking), wheat germ, dried fruit, etc.
It sounds like you had a wonderful relaxing and fun Sunday . And the homemade granola sounds so good. I have never tried making it but think that it would be a great thing for me to try. I do love it.
ReplyDeleteThank you also on your wonderful comment on out trees at our Senior Center. I am so glad you visited my blog.

What a nice day! The bread looks very tasty! I made a crock pot potato soup today but it wasn't anything to write home about. It did make a big batch though. :)
ReplyDeleteAnother great day! I've yet to make homemade granola but it is definitely on my list of things to do. That list gets longer and longer. :) Happy Tuesday. Tammy
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful day you had! I love that Mrs. Crockpot and Mr. Bread Machine took care of your meal. Loved the walk you had with your hubby. It all sounded so very perfect (starting of course with church!) What a beautiful, love-filled Sunday!
ReplyDeleteYummy! I use my crockpot all the time, but I never have tried cooking lasagna in it.

I have been trying that granloa recipe but have burnt it twice. One time I overbaked it and the other time the heat was more than desired. Today I will make a third attempt to get a properly done granola bars. Thanks for the recipe. I had no idea that we could prepare the granolas at home. Looking forward to cooking and reading more posts from you.

I love homemade granola! Your recipe is similar to the one I use but mine doesn't have the milk in it.
